SIGNIFICANT FUNDING SUCCESS FOR WATER STREET CENTRE ROOF

Bollington Initiative Trust (BIT) are absolutely delighted to announce that we now have sufficient funds to carry out the repair and renovation work on the roof at the Water Street Centre. Work on the roof will be starting in July and lasting about 4 months.

The total cost of the work on the roof will be around £170,000 and has been made possible by a very generous donation from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. We are very grateful for this fantastic support. This follows on from the £60,000 previously raised to replace the boilers and toilets on the first floor. This work was completed in May 2021.

The Water Street Centre currently hosts the very successful Bollington Pre-School charity on the ground floor and the 150 or so rainbows, brownies, guides and rangers who meet on the first floor.

Fundraising efforts will now turn to the next stage of work which is to refurbish and redecorate the remainder of the first floor. BIT aims to do this work alongside the work on the roof. The exact specification for this refurbishment will depend upon the amount of funds raised. If you would like to contribute, please go to our Make a Donation page.

Existing fundraising activity for the lift will now be paused until such time as the first floor refurbishment is complete. Funds of approaching £10,000 had already been pledged but under the specific rules of this particular crowdfunding scheme, these pledges can only be used for this purpose. The funds will therefore be returned to donors directly by the scheme organisers (Spacehive) through the same route that the donation was made. Donors should have received an email confirming this. If, however, you would like to redirect your donation to the first-floor refurbishment you can do so by donating by following this link. If you have any problems donating, please get in touch.

We will provide further information about the work on the roof - and the fundraising for the first floor refurbishment - as it becomes available. Once we have completed the roof then we will be able to start the refurbishment of the !st floor.
